knitwear care
Wool is an incredible fiber that is naturally odor resistant and prevents the build-up of sweat, bacteria and unpleasant smells.
To care for your wool knits, please follow these guidelines:
Washing
Wash infrequently and only when required.
Soak the item in cool water with pH neutral detergent. We recommend Eucalan Delicate Wash - Unscented. Avoid aggressive agitation when the knits are wet as this could result in felting.
Remove from the soapy water and submerge the garment a second time in clean cool water to rinse off the detergent. Some brands - such as Eucalan - do not require a rinse. In that case, skip this step and move on to drying the item.
Remove from the water and gently squeeze. Do not wring.
To remove excess moisture, place the garment in your washer and run on a low speed spin cycle. Alternatively, you can sandwich the garment between two clean towels and gently press.
Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
Do not iron. If there are some wrinkles you would like to remove, you can gently steam the garment.
Never use bleach.
Indigo Care - What is “crocking”?
"Crocking" refers to the transfer of color that can occur when a dyed item rubs against skin or other fabrics. This phenomenon is most commonly associated with indigo dyeing. For instance, you may have noticed crocking when wearing a new pair of dark blue jeans with a white blouse.
Some of our blue and green colorways are produced using an organic indigo vat. (Please check the garment ingredients tag to verify the materials used for each item.) During the first few wears of indigo-dyed knits, a light blue color may transfer to other light-colored clothing. To prevent color transfer, we recommend pairing the garment with darker colors initially. Additionally, please handwash these items separately to avoid transferring the dye to other garments.
Storage
Store away from direct sunlight to preserve the garment’s color.
To avoid moth holes please consider storing your wool garments in a sealed container or bag during the off-season.
pH sensitivity
Exposure to acid on a naturally dyed textile has the potential to leave a mark. If your garment accidentally comes in contact with an acidic substance like vinegar or citrus juice, please rinse the area immediately with cold water.
